Get started

To start, install TonalBrain Mix, put it on a track in your DAW and sign in with your TonalBrain account. New accounts get 3 free credits.

What you need

  • macOS 10.15 or later (Apple silicon or Intel), or Windows 10/11 (64-bit).
  • A DAW that loads AU, VST3 or AAX plugins.
  • A TonalBrain account with a pass, and an internet connection to get suggestions.

Install

  1. 1Download the installer from your TonalBrain account: .pkg for macOS or .exe for Windows.
  2. 2Run the installer. On macOS, select the formats that you use (VST3, Audio Unit, AAX).
  3. 3Quit your DAW fully, then open it again.Result: TonalBrain Mix by TonalBrain shows in your plugin list: AU in Logic Pro and GarageBand, AAX in Pro Tools, VST3 in the other DAWs.

Note

On a Mac, use only one format (AU or VST3) in one project.

Sign in

  1. 1Put TonalBrain Mix on a track and open the plugin window.
  2. 2Click Sign in with browser. If the login screen does not show, click ⚙ > Login.
  3. 3Approve the request in your browser.Result: The plugin shows “Login successful. Ready to analyze.”

You sign in one time on each computer. If your browser does not open, use or sign in with email.

Your pass

  • The header of the plugin shows the credits of your pass and the days that remain, for example 48 credits - 21d left.
  • One analysis uses one credit, for up to 24 tracks. Captures, edits and preset changes do not use credits.
  • When you have no credits, click Get Credits to buy a pass. After you buy it, click Already purchased? Refresh credits.
